Bathroom Remodeling Checklist
The first thing that you have to keep in mind when you are remodeling your bathroom is that it has to be functional; this has to be the most important thing. A bathroom exists for only one purpose and it has to serve that, otherwise no matter how good it looks you are going to be disappointed. Therefore you have to really think about whether those great looking but impractical fixtures are really a good idea. Here is a quick bathroom remodeling checklist
The next thing that you have to do when you are planning to renovate your bathroom is think about the space. If you are doing a major remodel it might make sense to expand the size of the bathroom, if not you are going to have to fit everything into the existing space. This means that the giant whirlpool tub that you have your eye on may not be the best option. It is a good idea to draw everything out as part of the planning process to make sure that you are getting the best possible use out of the space that you have.
The next item on your checklist is to decide on the colors that you are going to use. One of the great things about a bathroom is that unlike the other rooms in your house you can use almost any color that you like. That being said you don’t want to go crazy and use something that you are going to tire of quickly.
The next thing that you have to think about when you are doing your bathroom is the materials that you are going to use. The key thing here is that they have to be durable and easy to clean. A lot of people put carpet in their bathroom for example and quickly come to regret it because of the difficulty in cleaning it. Good quality tiles are the best option in almost all cases.
The next thing that you have to think about is the lighting that you are going to use in your bathroom. This is more important than in almost any other room in the house. This is in part because of the small size of the room but also because it will have a large mirror in it that will reflect the light. It is therefore important to really think about where you are going to put the lights.
The last item on your bathroom remodeling checklist are the fixtures that you are going to use. Again this is a case where the realities of the bathroom are going to trump everything else. You want to get fixtures that look good and at the same time which are practical to use. One other thing to keep in mind is that is that it almost always a good idea to leave things like the sink and the toilet where they are or else you will have a major job on your hands re-plumbing the bathroom.
