Kitchen Renovation Checklist

The first thing that you have to decide on when you are remodeling your kitchen is how big a change you want to make and how much work you are prepared to do. The kitchen is the room that gives you the most scope for change but it is also the most expensive to remodel. Therefore you are going to really have to think about your budget. Simple things like putting in new tiles and new cabinet faces can really change the look of your kitchen without costing too much. On the other hand if you want to change the layout of the kitchen and bring in new appliances the cost can quickly escalate out of control. Here is a quick kitchen remodeling checklist:

Layout

The first item on your checklist when you are remodeling your kitchen is the layout. If you are happy with this and just want to change the look of the kitchen than this is not an issue. However if you want to change the layout of the kitchen you will need to map the whole thing out to make sure that you are getting the most out of the space that you have.

Cabinets

The next step is to think about the cabinets. If you are changing the layout of the kitchen you will need to get new ones, if you are not changing the layout you may be able to get away with painting the ones that you have or putting new faces on them. The cost of kitchen cabinets can be very high so make sure that you think hard about this. At the same time you will need to think about the countertops, granite looks great of course but is very expensive, most people find that tile is a good option instead.

Appliances

The next item on your kitchen renovation checklist are the appliances. If you have older ones this is probably a good time to go out and get new ones. It is important if you are not changing the layout of your kitchen to make sure that you get appliances that will fit into the available spaces. If you are changing the layout of your kitchen choose the appliances before you start doing any work so that you can be sure that you leave enough space for the news as they will likely be bigger than the ones that you already have.

Flooring

The last thing that you are going to want to look at when you are remodeling your kitchen is look at the floors. In almost all cases this will mean putting in tiles although it might even make sense to go with something like linoleum. The key thing is to make sure that you get something that is durable and easy to clean as there will be spills.
